Most of our volunteers came from ZP schools from Ahmednagar (Maharashtra) district which inspired them to do something for school development. Then as part of this discussion we propose the idea of a school mentorship program, under which we assign our volunteers to one ZP school. As part of this mentorship program, we carried out video conference calls to school. On the first attempt we received great support from ZP officials, and more than 150 schools participated in the program. All schools participating in the program got assigned individual volunteers. This forms a special bond between school and mentor. Under this mentorship program, rural area schools got connected to the global world. This was great inspiration for students to talk and exchange experiences along with valuable guidance. Most school volunteers are still active and connected with assigned schools for regular mentorship.
In the second year of the program, we extend to an even higher number of schools. More than 250 schools were registered and due to limitation on volunteers could not be able to support some overvaluing response.
Our leadership team is looking forward to another round for the school mentorship program with commitment to make a positive impact to our education system.
